Hello and welcome to my blog!
If you’re reading this then there is a high probability that you want to know a little more about me. Well, I’m a UK-based amateur photographer and this blog is about my thoughts, opinions and of course photographs. I’m always learning and blogging is a great way to share and connect with other photographers.
I’m relatively new to DSLR cameras but have been shooting with compacts for many years. I have a soft spot for landscapes and the tipping point which made me take photography more seriously was the recurring disappointment of photographs not living up to the memories of the moment.
I’m educated and trained in IT & Computing which really helps with the digital side of photography. The problem solving skills and ability to think fast come in handy too. I have a suppressed creative side – or at least I think I do – which photography goes some way to provide an outlet. I’m always looking to improve. I’ve been told on more than one occasion that I “must have a really great camera” so I must be moving in the right direction at least.
I like to read about photography – a few of my favourite authors are Bryan Peterson, David DuChemin and Damien Lovegrove. I really like Zack Arias as a “personality” (as much as you can say that about someone you’ve never met) and I just love Henri Cartier-Bresson’s street stuff.
I like to try a bit of everything – macro, portraits, sometimes even sports – although my cameras aren’t really up to serious sports shooting! For those that are interested in gear I have a Canon 5D and a Canon 500D and I use them both equally. Everybody I know shoots Nikon. And if I could take just one lens out with me it would be a fast 50mm.
I always welcome feedback and suggestions so don’t hesitate to leave a comment. My posts can be quite varied but I always try to make each one high quality. If you like what you see then please subscribe!
